ORIGIN
This single-origin organic coffee is a Yirgacheffe heirloom varietal from the small Koke district in Yirgacheffe, Southern Ethiopia. Koke is known for its high elevation coffee production (as high as 2300m) and the complex flavour profiles and concentrated sweetness of the coffee beans emerging from the area.
These beans come from the KOKE cooperative, a collective of around 1200 coffee farmers in the region. The KOKE Cooperative is part of the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU), a cooperative society initiated in 2002 as a strategy to collectively scale-up individual operations and improve farmers’ access to the specialty coffee market through organizing.
This coffee is certified Organic and Fair Trade.
